Gingrich loves zoos, fears space nukes
As the former House speaker returns to national fame, two of his quirkier passions have followed him into the spotlight: space nukes and zoo animals.
Steve Ells
CEO of Chipotle Mexican Grill
“Chipotle, a growing fast food chain with 1,100 locations, is known for its local produce program. But most recently, Chipotle’s CEO Steve Ells has taken on the issue of antibiotic use in livestock.
According to a story in Food Safety News, Ells testified before Congress in favor of a bill to limit sub-therapeutic use of antibiotics in American livestock.” Source: http://www.treehugger.com/health/chipotle-testifies-before-congress-to-curb-antibiotic-use-in-livestock.html
I was wondering why Chipotle showed up on my Eat Well Guide search (http://www.eatwellguide.org/i.php?pd=Home). Also curious that this was one of the places Michelle Obama was spotted in one of her disguised sneak-away shopping trips.

Louise Slaughter
U.S. House of Representatives
Democrate, New York
“…Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY). The only microbiologist in Congress, Slaughter has been fighting for limits on antibiotic use in livestock for several years on the grounds that overuse of these drugs contributes to antibiotic resistance. Around 80 percent of antibiotics sold in the United States annually are given to food animals.” Source: http://www.treehugger.com/health/chipotle-testifies-before-congress-to-curb-antibiotic-use-in-livestock.html
Lee Terry
U.S. House of Representatives
Republican - Nebraska
“…Terry had recently introduced a bill to force the rapid approval of the Keystone pipeline, overriding the president. (…) I went home and looked up Terry in the database of the Dirty Energy Money Campaign, compiled by Oil Change International. Koch Industries had given him $15,500. Exxon Mobil had given him $25,500. The Petroleum Marketers Assn. had tossed in $12,500. ConocoPhillips, Chevron, BP — all in all since 1999, he’d gotten $365,798 from the fossil fuel industry, and in the latest tally the site states he’d “sided with ‘dirty energy interests in 100% of selected votes.’” -Bill McKibben in LA Times article: http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-mckibben-congress-20111214,0,3498758.story
Bill McKibben
Environmental Activist and Author
“Is it really possible that people in Washington don’t understand what the rest of the country — left, right and center — believes about them: That they take campaign money from corporations in return for doing their bidding?” -Bill McKibben in LA Times Article: http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-mckibben-congress-20111214,0,3498758.story
We’re broken in Washington. I don’t know the answer to how they find the funds to promote themselves in the Hollywood mass marketing sense where they require big budgets. How about just offering web portals of topics and panel discussions by “non-bought” media sources? Do I really need the smear campaigns and commercials and false promises? Washington, please give me honesty and not false hope. I’m tired of feeling like you only care about the 1% (the wealthy and big business). There are so many more of us out here that want to live great and healthy lives in a beautiful country that cares about ALL of its people.
John Boehner
U.S. Speaker of the House Representative
Republican- Ohio
“The fossil fuel industry has dumped a total of $42,000,000 into the campaign coffers of the 234 House members who voted in favor of adding the Keystone provision to the tax cut bill, according to OpenSecrets.org. Speaker of the House Rep. Boehner raked in $1,100,000 alone.” -http://www.treehugger.com/fossil-fuels/how-oil-industry-interests-gop-back-room-dealing-revived-keystone-xl.html
